Xcode is a complete developer toolset for creating apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Xcode brings user interface design, coding, testing, debugging, and submitting to the App Store into a unified workflow.

The Xcode IDE (integrated development environment) is pretty complicated. Beginners may instead want to start with a simpler IDE so they can get a feel for how they work in general and not get overwhelmed . I recommend you take a look at Xojo .

Xcode is only made for Mac OS X . So if you only have a Windows-based PC, you will have to use some workarounds to run Xcode. And if you want to build iPhone apps or desktop applications for Mac OS X, you may need access to a Mac OS X computer.
