X-rays are produced when highly energetic electrons interact with matter and convert their kinetic energy into electromagnetic radiation . The two unique mechanisms by which x-rays are produced are called the bremsstrahlung and characteristic processes.1 Tem 1997

X-rays are a type of radiation called electromagnetic waves . X-ray imaging creates pictures of the inside of your body. The images show the parts of your body in different shades of black and white. This is because different tissues absorb different amounts of radiation.

Both may be used to generate monochromatic X-ray radiation and they basically differ only in the intensity of the radiation produced. E = e V = h c / λ where e is the charge on the electron, V is the accelerating voltage, h is Planck’s constant, and c is the speed of light.

X-rays are a form of electromagnetic radiation, similar to visible light . Unlike light, however, x-rays have higher energy and can pass through most objects, including the body. Medical x-rays are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body.
