Major mobile carriers will be shutting down 3G networks in 2022 starting with AT&T , which will make the change Tuesday. The switch will make some older phones and devices useless but will make way for more advanced services, including 5G.

The good news is that 4G LTE will be available for at least a decade to come , and will co-exist with 5G networks.

iPhone users won’t be safe either as those who have held on to their iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will stop receiving updates at the end of 2022. Users will not be able to request official repairs for their devices.
