It is case-insensitive . The behavior is NOT undefined (it is well-defined) if either string is a null ptr. Regular strncmp() has undefined behavior if either string is a null ptr (see: https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/string/byte/strncmp).

equalsIgnoreCase() : The String. equalsIgnoreCase() method compares two strings irrespective of the case (lower or upper) of the string. This method returns true if the argument is not null and the contents of both the Strings are same ignoring case, else false.

Examples. The right way of comparing String in Java is to either use equals(), equalsIgnoreCase(), or compareTo() method . You should use equals() method to check if two String contains exactly same characters in same order. It returns true if two String are equal or false if unequal.

Problem. A string comparison is case sensitive when you don’t want it to be, or vice versa .

Compare strings by ignoring case using Python As both the strings has similar characters but in different case. So to match these strings by ignoring case we need to convert both strings to lower case and then match using operator == i.e. It matched the strings in case in sensitive manner.
