Which Hz is high?

The lowest frequency we can hear (20 Hz) would be considered “low bass ,” while the highest audible frequency (20,000 Hz) would be called “high treble.”

At the other end of the spectrum are very low-frequency sounds (below 20 Hz), known as infrasound . Elephants use infrasound for communication, making sounds too low for humans to hear. Because low frequency sounds travel farther than high frequency ones, infrasound is ideal for communicating over long distances.3 Tem 2018

Humans can detect sounds in a frequency range from about 20 Hz to 20 kHz . (Human infants can actually hear frequencies slightly higher than 20 kHz, but lose some high-frequency sensitivity as they mature; the upper limit in average adults is often closer to 15–17 kHz.)

However, a 20 Hz sound with about a 120 dB intensity level sounds equally as loud as a 3 kHz sound with about a 110 dB intensity level .

Low-frequency sounds are 500 Hz or lower while high-frequency waves are above 2000 Hz . Human ears can register sounds from about 20 Hz in frequency up to 20,000 Hz, depending of course, upon the hearer.6 Eki 2017

Sound at 20-200 Hz is called low-frequency sound , while for sound below 20 Hz the term infrasound is used.

Human beings can normally hear sounds with a frequency between about 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Sounds with frequencies below 20 hertz are called infrasound. Infrasound is too low-pitched for humans to hear. Sounds with frequencies above 20,000 hertz are called ultrasound.
