Which company is testing 5G in India?

Bharti Airtel has announced that it successfully conducted its first 5G trial in India, in partnership with Nokia. The telecom operator revealed that it conducted 5G trial after it was allotted a test spectrum in multiple bands by the government for the validation of 5G technology and use cases .

Ahead of the final roll out, Reliance Jio has been testing its 5G network in India. The company has already tested its 5G network across four circles in India – Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Gujarat. Now, the company has partnered with Oppo to conduct 5G trials on smartphones in India.

The Fifth Generation or 5G telecom services are set to be rolled out in selected cities in India in 2022. The cities which are set to get the 5G telecom services in 2022 include Gurugram, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhinagar .

5G trials in India A team of officials from the Department of Telecom recorded 5G speed near the Mahatma Mandi 5G site in Gandhinagar to be around 1.5Gbps. Besides this, all the major telecom companies in India – Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel have begun testing 5G networks in India.
