When did 4G Jio launch in India?

Beginning April 2010 , India started auctioning spectrum. Since then, many rounds of auctions have taken place for sale of 3G and 4G spectrum. The last such spectrum auction took place in 2016 when the government garnered more than Rs 60,000 crore in revenues by sale of 4G spectrum.

The dramatic fall in the data prices was triggered by the September 5, 2016 launch of Mukesh Ambani’s 4G mobile network, Reliance Jio, days after India’s richest man gave a 90-minute speech in which he promised to reshape the future of the internet in India.

The 4G telecommunications network was first introduced in India back in 2012, but only in the form of dongles and modems through TD-LTE by Airtel .
