What is the difference between Visual Studio community and Visual Studio code?

Visual Studio (free Community edition – since 2015) is a simplified version of the full version and replaces the separated express editions used before 2015. Visual Studio Code (VSCode) is a cross-platform (Linux, Mac OS, Windows) editor that can be extended with plugins to your needs.

Visual Studio 2019 for Mac A free and full-featured solution for individual developers to create applications for Android, iOS, macOS, cloud and the web.

You can evaluate a free trial of Visual Studio Professional or Visual Studio Enterprise for 30 days. And if you sign in, you can extend the trial period to 90 days. (Visual Studio Community is free without a trial period . However, you must sign in periodically to keep your license up to date.)

Visual Studio 2019 version 16.7: support ends April 12, 2022 . We recommend users move to the version 16.11 supported baseline, or to Visual Studio 2022. Visual Studio 2019 Preview Channel: after April 2022, we will no longer provide updates to the Preview Channel of Visual Studio 2019.
