What is SS Rsrq?

Layer 1 (L1) Measurement: Measurements are filtered at Layer 1 to help remove the impact of noise and to improve measurement accuracy . L1 measurements are ‘beam level’ L1 SS-RSRP and CSI-RSRP reporting range is defined from -140 to -40dBm with 1dB resolution.

RSRP means Reference Signal Received Power . RSRP is probably the most important measurement in LTE and 5G networks. It is used for several procedures like cell selection, cell reselection, handover and power control.

SS-RSRQ: SS-RSRQ stands for Secondary synchronization Signal Reference Signal Received Quality . It is defined as the ratio of N×SS-RSRP /NR carrier RSSI, where N is the number of resource blocks in the NR carrier RSSI measurement bandwidth.

SS-RSRP is the linear average of the received secondary synchronization signals level . These synchronization signals, which are specific to each cell, are transmitted using the source elements. Thanks to RSRP, it is possible to compare the strengths of signals from individual cells in 5G networks.
