What is Facebook’s metaverse called?

The metaverse can be defined as a simulated digital environment that uses augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and blockchain, along with concepts from social media, to create spaces for rich user interaction mimicking the real world.

What About Reality? Meta intends to spend the next five to ten years creating an immersive virtual environment that includes fragrance, touch, and sound to allow users to lose themselves in virtual reality .

Facebook on Thursday announced that it is opening up Horizon Worlds , its virtual reality world of avatars, to anyone 18 and older in the U.S. and Canada. The broader launch of Horizon Worlds is an important step for Facebook, which officially changed its name to Meta in October.
