What is a smart chain?

Binance Smart Chain (BSC) is a blockchain that runs parallel to Binance’s premier blockchain Binance Chain (BC). It was launched almost one and a half years after the latter with the explicit purpose of introducing smart contract programmability that was not supported in BC .22 Eki 2021

That’s why Binance Smart Chain (BSC) was created. It runs parallel to the original Binance Chain, has smart contract functionality, and is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) . BSC is an independent blockchain and is not a layer two or off-chain scalability solution.
