1G Launched by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 1979 , 1G wireless technology was first introduced to the citizens of Tokyo, Japan. It was an analog system and offered no data capabilities, but by 1984, the network covered all of Japan, making it the first country to have 1G service nationwide.

The computers of first generation used vacuum tubes as the basic components for memory and circuitry for CPU (Central Processing Unit) . These tubes, like electric bulbs, produced a lot of heat and the installations used to fuse frequently.

In 1983, the first 1G network launched in the USA was Chicago-based Ameritech using the Motorola DynaTAC mobile phone. Several countries then followed in the early to mid-1980s including the UK, Mexico and Canada.
