Wave generator

A function generator is the most common type of signal generator. It generates simple repetitive waveforms of varying magnitudes and frequencies . It uses a signal generator circuit and an electronic oscillator to generate signals, which act as stimuli for testing and designing purposes.

A signal generator allows you to output signals with various frequencies, amplitudes, and time durations. Many signal generators even allow you to modulate frequency, amplitude, and phase signals .

An audio frequency generator produces a continual audible monotone at a set frequency and level of volume . There are controls to adjust the frequency and the volume up and down as desired. Some also have a selector to switch the waveform type between sine wave, square wave and triangular sawtooth.
