O2 (typeset as O 2) is a global brand name owned by the Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica . The company uses the O2 brand for its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Germany.

Today O2 and Vodafone have announced a new deal that enhances their existing partnership, to bring the best network experience to their customers. The two telecommunications companies, which already share mast infrastructure, have agreed a deal to trade bands to create more efficient blocks of 5G spectrum.

Any mega-deal would mark a U-turn by BT, which was forced to sell O2 – previously called Cellnet – in 2002 to help slash its debts .
