What means TRAI?

I. ~ (a) Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), New Delhi is a statutory body set up under an Act of Parliament viz. TRAI Act, 1997. TRAI has been established to regulate the Telecommunication Services and to protect the interest of service providers and consumers.

What is TRAI and what is its role?

The main purpose of these two institutions established under the TRAI Act is to regulate telecommunication services, adjudicate disputes, dispose appeals and protect the interest of the service providers as well as the consumers . The Act also aims at promoting and ensuring orderly growth of the telecom sector.
