Answer for your first question is NO. SoloLearn does not charge for certificates . I have completed 4 courses (HTML, CSS, JS, Java) and downloaded the certificates after completing the whole course.

SoloLearn is considerably cheaper than Codecademy so if price is an issue for you, we recommend choosing SoloLearn as it offers numerous excellent courses at a budget-friendly price. But if you’re an intermediate learner, you’ll need to fork out to learn anything new.

It is good for beginners though it doesn’t cover topics completely to the core . IMHO Java is one of their best courses. Thanks for A2A. Honestly, I did not try the Java Course at Sololearn.
