Responsibilities

Being a back end dev means you have more interaction with databases and you don’t have to worry about user interaction/usability problems . Other than code style and architecture goals like modularity or scalability, the back-end has to “just work”, and there is usually more of a clear cut answer when you are done.

For web development you need JavaScript because that’s the only language browsers accept out of the box. Luckily JS is also great for backend.

In terms of what’s easier, BED code is a lot more stable so it doesn’t change as fast, is more established and has longer running frameworks . FED is becoming more and more complex with new frameworks coming along each week (it seems). Also with the rapid updating of browsers there are new features every few months.
