Seven cities were involved in the initial rollout of 5G including London, Glasgow and Manchester and currently, its 5G service is live in 44 locations including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Gatwick, Lancaster, Liverpool, Plymouth, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton .

Nigeria will therefore join Kenya and South Africa as the only three countries to have deployed commercial 5G services on the continent.

5G is also available on Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) in the Sandon CBD (Gauteng) and in Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape).

MTN, Africa’s largest mobile network operator, announced the launch of its 5G network in South Africa, with the initial deployment of 100 5G sites . The company has deployed 58 5G sites in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Bloemfontein using the 3.5 GHz band.
