Machine learning or web development

Web development is not going anywhere , although the technologies are changing like with JavaScript frameworks. Don’t learn Machine Learning and AI to save your job, but learn if you feel you are actually interested enough to work through the problems.

Not better, just different. Web development has higher demand, but also a larger talent pool . In both cases, the demand outnumbers the supply of skilled people by far. Meaning that, if you’re skilled at what you do, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a job in either career.26 Mar 2017

Both the fields are different and require you to pick up different set of tools and skills. Machine learning requires you to have some math background plus coding plus understanding of some popular ML techniques whereas web development is mostly software development.
