Ku band frequency applications

The Ku band frequency range is 11.7 – 12.2 GHz (or 11700 to 12220 MHz) Notice how these frequencies are higher than the C band frequency range. Because of the higher frequencies, Ku band waves have shorter wavelengths . Shorter wavelengths mean that you need a smaller dish to receive these frequencies.

Ku-band uses frequencies in the 12 to 18 GHz range, while Ka-band uses frequencies in the 26.5 to 40 GHz range . With a higher frequency, you can extract more bandwidth from a Ka-band system, which means a higher data transfer rate and, therefore, higher performance.24 Eyl 2019

The Kurtz-under band (Ku band) is a frequency range or segment of the radio spectrum from 11 to 17 GHz. This range is often used for satellite communications, including VSATs, and some types of satellite antennas.

The Ku band is mainly used for satellite communications, especially downlink, used by direct-transmission satellites for satellite television and specific applications such as the NASA’s Tracking Data Relay Satellite used for both the space shuttle and for communications from the International Space Station (ISS).
