Is Oh Il-nam the creator of Squid Game?

Oh Il-nam (Korean: 오일남), also referred to as The Host or Player 001, is the main antagonist of the first season of the South Korean Netflix drama Squid Game . At first, he seemed to be an ordinary old man who got to participate in the Squid Game as a destitute player.

This led him to the 7th floor of a building and the discovery that Il-nam was still alive. Not only did the old man not die after marbles, but Il-nam reveals that he’s one of the architects behind the entire event .2 Kas 2021

It turns out that Il-nam is mega-rich, though the explanation he gives is that he “makes a living lending out money .” Everything he said in the Game was true, including his name and the brain tumor, but he entered the Game after watching as a VIP for years.

Not only is Il-nam player 001 and the first “player” in the Squid Game, but he’s also the creator of the game. He’s the top ranked person among the guards, the Front Man, and the VIPs. He is The Host, the number one man in every way.
