Is Libra a failure?

In December, Libra rebranded as Diem in a renewed effort to gain regulatory approval, with its scope scaled back further to a single dollar-backed digital coin. Currently, Facebook’s digial wallet Novi is one of Diem’s 26 members and a minority investor.

First proposed in June 2019 with the name libra, the token was initially intended to be a universal currency tied to a basket of sovereign currencies such as the U.S. dollar and the euro .20 Nis 2021

It was once promoted as a new financial system that would transform how money is transferred around the world, but Facebook’s ambitious cryptocurrency project has ended in failure.
