Is lambda a frequency or wavelength?

Frequency is denoted by the symbol f , and is measured in hertz (Hz) – formerly called cycles per second (cps or c/s) – kilohertz (kHz), or megahertz (mHz).

In an equation, wavelength is represented by the Greek letter lambda (λ). Depending on the type of wave, wavelength can be measured in meters, centimeters, or nanometers (1 m = 109 nm). The frequency, represented by the Greek letter nu (ν), is the number of waves that pass a certain point in a specified amount of time.

Frequency divided by the speed of light is ν/c, which from the above equation is 1/λ .

Wavelength and frequency are inversely proportional to each other.
