Is Jio VoLTE or LTE?

Reliance Jio’s network is purely LTE , and does not have any 2G and 3G bands and as such, calls made on this network will only be VoLTE based. Therefore, in order to use the feature, you must have a handset which is VoLTE enabled.

You can still use 4G phones that support Jio’s LTE band , but you will not be able to make calls unless your phone supports VoLTE. Reliance Jio is offering app-based workarounds to let you call any number on such cases, but to enjoy the true Jio experience, you need to have a VoLTE use to make the most of the network.

The Jio Phone is a 4G-only handset and will route calls via VoLTE (Voice over LTE) technology. Notably, Jio offers the only 4G VoLTE network in the country, which means only the company’s SIM cards will work on the phone, leaving out Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL etc.
