Is Jammu and Kashmir a state now?

Jammu and Kashmir, officially known as the Princely State of Kashmir and Jammu , was a princely state during the British East India Company rule as well as the British Raj in India from 1846 to 1952.

Jammu , city, winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir union territory, northern India. It lies in the southwestern part of Jammu and Kashmir along the Tawi River, south of Srinagar (the summer capital), and to the north is the Siwalik Range.

The act re-constituted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, with effect from 31 October 2019.
