IoT devices share the sensor data they collect by connecting to an IoT gateway or other edge device where data is either sent to the cloud to be analyzed or analyzed locally . Sometimes, these devices communicate with other related devices and act on the information they get from one another.

Devices are connected to the cloud through many different methods depending on the device connectivity capabilities. These methods include cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), such as NB-IoT, and direct connection to the Internet via Ethernet .

Storing the Data. Across the Internet of Things, devices create data that is sent to the main application to be sent on, consumed and used . Depending on the device, the network and power consumption restraints, data can be sent in real time, or in batches at any time.
