Huawei Canada layoff

While the federal government delayed the decision, Canada’s big three telecommunications companies, Bell, Telus and Rogers, independently announced they would not move forward with Huawei technology in their 5G networks. But Huawei equipment is already used by Bell and Telus in their existing networks .

In 2020, Bell Canada selected Ericsson 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) technology to support its nationwide 5G mobile and fixed wireless access deployment. The carrier started the construction of its 5G network last year, using equipment from Finnish vendor Nokia.

“Although Canadian operators have announced different 5G partners for their future network buildout, the reality right now is that Huawei equipment remains in current networks in most major Canadian cities, and many remote regions of Canada ,” said Alykhan Velshi, Huawei Canada’s vice president of corporate affairs.
