How does a Doppler radar work?

The receiver uses two antennas – one antenna aimed at the target and one antenna aimed at the transmit antenna.

Doppler radar works by sending a beam of electromagnetic radiation waves from the transmitter (TX Antenna), with a precise frequency, at a moving object . Once the electromagnetic radiation wave comes in contact with an object, it travels back towards the receiver (RX Antenna).12 Haz 2020

The radar antenna transmits pulses of radio waves which bounce off any object in their path . The object returns a small part of the wave’s energy to the receiver antenna which is usually located at the same site as the transmitter. The basic use of the traffic radars is the measurement of the speed of the vehicle.

Among the different types of reflector Antennas, the simple parabolic reflectors and the Cassegrain feed parabolic reflectors are the most commonly used ones.
