How do you check if two strings are the same ignoring their cases?

The equals() method is case-sensitive , meaning that the string “HELLO” is considered to be different from the string “hello”. The == operator does not work reliably with strings. Use == to compare primitive values such as int and char.

The only difference between them is that the equals() methods considers the case while equalsIgnoreCase() methods ignores the case during comparison. For e.g. The equals() method would return false if we compare the strings “TEXT” and “text” however equalsIgnoreCase() would return true.

Two strings are considered equal ignoring case if they are of the same length and corresponding characters in the two strings are equal ignoring case .
