To calculate the goods transferred out, simply take the units transferred out times the sum of the two equivalent unit costs (materials and conversion) because all items transferred to the next department are complete with respect to materials and conversion, so each unit brings all its costs.

In a 1 Gbps connection, 1 Gigabit will take 1 second . Since there are 8 bits in a byte, 1 Gigabyte will take 8 times longer. So your 1 GB file will take 8 seconds in ideal conditions.

So you can get 0.5 GB/s using either a RAID HDD or SSD attached via USB 3.1 Gen 2. That will give about 1000 s for the 500 GB of data. Add some overhead so maybe about 1800 s at most or about 30 minutes.

If you can transfer this data (without encryption) at, say, 10 megabits per second: 224 000 000 000 bits / 10 000 000 bits per second = 22400 seconds = 373 minutes. So we can expect the transfer at 10 Mbps to take around six hours (give or take a bit). Transferring the file at 100Mbps will take about 35 minutes .

It’s 5 Gigabits per Second, not Gigabytes. In that case to transfer 1 Terabyte of Data it would take about: 25 Minutes .

The formula to calculate the data transfer speed is: speed = data transferred / duration .

Divide the amount of data by the transfer speed to find the transfer time . If you want to solve for the transfer time (T) instead, input the amount of data (A) and the rate or speed (S) of transfer into the equation T = A ÷ S. For instance, say you transferred 134 GB at a rate of 7 MB/s.
