Edge computing is used in the manufacturing sector to monitor manufacturing processes and apply machine learning and real-time analytics to improve product qualities and detect production errors . It also supports the environmental sensors to be incorporated in manufacturing plants.

Edge computing is a distributed information technology (IT) architecture in which client data is processed at the periphery of the network, as close to the originating source as possible .

In simpler terms, edge computing means running fewer processes in the cloud and moving those processes to local places , such as on a user’s computer, an IoT device, or an edge server.
