It’s true to say that 2021 is the best year for DOGE since its launch . At the start of the year, DOGE was trading at $0.005685. By February, the coin hit $0.034 and later went to as high as $0.7376 in early May. However, even though the prices of the coin surged, the bullish trend didn’t last for long.

Although still significantly less competitive than mining Bitcoin, Dogecoin mining became increasingly profitable in 2021 , reaching a six-year high. According to the BitInfoCharts data, mining a single Dogecoin was worth a profit of 0.19 US cents in January.

There are more than 130 billion DOGE at the time of writing. That number will continue to rise at a rate of 10,000 per minute forever. Dogecoin’s creators decided to let the currency be an inflationary one to encourage DOGE “tipping” and other transaction-based uses.
