Does US Cellular have mmWave 5G?

UScellular this week showed millimeter wave isn’t just for high-density urban areas, stretching signals over a distance of 7 kilometers (around 4.35 miles) with sustained average download speeds of 1 Gbps in a 5G fixed wireless access trial.

Millimeter wave technology will allow a 5G network in which all applications—even ones that have not been created—will get industry-leading speed and reliability . Rich, heavy data packets will travel at lightning-fast speeds, with imperceptible network latency. Lag times will all but vanish.

It’s not all about C-band spectrum – at least, not yet. Verizon is still rolling out millimeter wave (mmWave) in select areas, which it pitches as “5G Ultra Wideband” to consumers. The latest cities to get this mobility service are Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Athens, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; and Fremont, California .
