Does the electromagnetic field exist everywhere?

Electromagnetic fields are present everywhere in our environment – the earth, sun and ionosphere are all natural sources of EMF. Electromagnetic fields exist everywhere in the environment including our home, school and work place. Electromagnetic fields are generated either by natural or human-made sources.

They are generated by natural phenomena like the Earth’s magnetic field but also by human activities, mainly through the use of electricity. Mobile phones, power lines and computer screens are examples of equipment that generates electromagnetic fields.

The magnetic field of a bar magnet is strongest at either pole of the magnet . It is equally strong at the north pole when compared with the south pole. The force is weaker in the middle of the magnet and halfway between the pole and the center.

Electromagnetic fields can be both natural and made by humans . Natural electromagnetic fields are present in the Earth. While they may be invisible, electrical fields are based on the build-up of electric charges in the environment. These electric fields are commonly associated with thunderstorms.
