Today, Verizon is using its end-to-end deep fiber resources throughout it’s 5G Ultra Wideband network .

Speeds will, the company says, be as fast as 1 Gbps, which is about as fast as Verizon’s FIOS gets. It’s more than 10 times faster than what the average home gets today . What’s different about 5G Home is that it doesn’t require digging trenches or laying cable to hit those blistering speeds.

Due to that, the number of providers currently offering any 5G home internet plan is relatively limited . For example, AT&T provides a 5G mobile service, but its fixed wireless solution does not currently utilize its 5G network. So, right now, your main options for 5G home internet are Starry, T-Mobile and Verizon.

The new router, made by Wistron for Verizon , can be placed inside by a window, so there’s no external install needed. A smartphone app guides you where to put the unit. The device has Wi-Fi 6 and one Ethernet port.
