Dish also has a roaming agreement with AT&T and new Boost Mobile and future Dish Wireless customers will be roaming on the AT&T network until Dish can service their wireless customers directly. Dish is operating Boost Mobile as a “virtual” operator (MVNO) with the same or better coverage as before.

In 2020, the company became a nationwide U.S. wireless carrier through the acquisition of Boost Mobile. DISH continues to innovate in wireless, building the nation’s first cloud-native, Open RAN-based 5G broadband network .

Dish plans to launch a beta 5G service in Las Vegas in the current quarter, with commercial availability due in 2022. Though it delayed the beta launch – which was originally scheduled for Q3 – the company faces hard rollout deadlines set by the Federal Communications Commission.
