Data Network Name 5G

The APN provides configuration to connect a cellular network device to an IP data network . A carrier uses the name, type and other configuration in an APNSetting to decide which IP address to assign, any security methods to apply, and how the device might be connected to private networks. An Access Point Name (APN) is the name of a gateway between a GSM, GPRS, 3G and 4G mobile network and another computer network, frequently the public Internet . A mobile device making a data connection must be configured with an APN to present to the carrier.

The default APN is named ‘T-Mobile US ‘ and has these settings: APN: fast.t-mobile.com. Proxy: Not set. Port: Not set.

Each is identified with a (human readable) name which in 2G, 3G and 4G networks was referred to as the APN (Access Point Name). In the 5G core, it is referred to as the DNN (Data Network Name).5 Haz 2018

In a mobile network, the access point name (APN) is the virtual private network (VPN) that connects the user equipment through the Packet Data Network Gateway (P-GW) to the Packet Data Network (PDN) . User equipment can access many APNs, which are domain names and associated parameters, and one is the default APN.

A PDP (Packet Data Protocol ) Context is a logical association between a MS (Mobile Station) and PDN (Public Data Network) running across a GPRS network.
