Beat frequency demonstration

When two sound waves of different frequency approach your ear, the alternating constructive and destructive interference causes the sound to be alternatively soft and loud – a phenomenon which is called “beating” or producing beats.

Conditions of Formation of Beats: The amplitude of the two interfering waves should be the same . The difference between the frequencies of interfering waves should be small. The beats can be heard only if the frequency difference is less than 10.
