In its final report on the roll-out of 5G spectrum networks, the MCMC said that the 700MHz, 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) and 26/28GHz would be identified as pioneer spectrum bands for the implementation of 5G networks in Malaysia.

Countries are advised to include 600 MHz in their broadcast replanning, this helps minimise TV broadcast disruptions . The limited amount of spectrum available below 1 GHz will ultimately run out of capacity. This puts mobile broadband at risk in emerging markets, rural areas and inside buildings.

4G : 700 MHz, Band 17 (LTE). 850 MHz, Band 4 (LTE). 1700/ 2100 AWS MHz, Band 4 (LTE). 1900 PCS MHz, Band 2 (LTE).

The location of the 700 MHz Band — just above the remaining TV broadcast channels — gives it excellent propagation characteristics. This allows the 700 MHz signals to penetrate buildings and walls easily and to cover larger geographic areas with less infrastructure (relative to frequencies in higher bands).19 Haz 2020
