The Sandbox was founded in 2011 by Arthur Madrid and Sébastien Borget. The company is a subsidiary of a Hong Kong-based game software company called Animoca Brands . Therefore, technically speaking the Sandbox is owned by Animoca Brands. However, as The Sandbox Metaverse is decentralized, no one really “owns” it.
