Low-frequency hearing loss is defined as an audiometric low-frequency (500 Hz, 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz) pure-tone average greater than 15 dB in one or both ears based on the criteria from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) guidelines for hearing loss thresholds.
