120 hz means 120 fps max you must read the specs of the monitor which connection to use to achieve this, is it dvi , hdmi or the display port. If a monitor is 120Hz it doesn’t mean it can maximum run 120FPS. It can run games at 240FPS but with a frequency of 120Hz. 240FPS will feel better than 120FPS and smoother too.
